Getting Students Out This Fall!

We had a busy fall schedule of activities in the three National Conservation Area's.  Thanks to the many volunteers who helped make our student education events a huge success (listed below) and participated in one of our outings or trail monitoring activities.  Stay tuned for our winter lecture series announcement in late December.

In September CCA worked with BLM, Trout Unlimited and others to host the 3rd annual Cottonwood Days education event in Gunnison Gorge NCA.  This four day event brought over six hundred 6th graders out along the Gunnison River to learn about aquatic ecosystems, fly fishing and cultural history.

In October CCA hosted the 2nd annual Dominguez-Escalante NCA Scavenger Hunt, bringing nearly two hundred Delta County 3rd graders into Escalante Canyon for a day of discovery.  This program includes experts from several partner organizations and an opportunity for students to learn about the wildlife, plants, geology and history of this amazing place.
