CCA Winter and Spring Outings Almost Complete

It's been a great few months of activities focused on informing the community about our regional National Conservation Area's.  With over 500 members of the public and four organizational partners participating we are proud of our accomplishments so far this year.  

Some highlights include: 
  • In Delta, The archeology and geology of Gunnison Gorge NCA with BLM Archeologist Glade Hadden (over 80 members attending). 
  • Paleontology of the NCA's with Dr. Martin Lockley, world renowned dinosaur expert, brought to Grand Junction in partnership with the Museum of Western Colorado (over 80 members attending). 
  • History of Escalante Canyon Lecture and bus tour in partnership with the Delta County Museum and the Interpretive Association of Western Colorado (175 attending both events). 
  • Several engaging and educational hikes in both McInnis Canyons and Dominguez-Escalante this spring.
Upcoming events include: 
  • Fundraising dinner at Carlson's Winery on May 3rd. 
  • Volunteers needed for the Devils Canyon 3rd grade Scavenger Hunt on May 12-15th.
  • May wildflower and birding hikes in Gunnison Gorge and McInnis Canyons.
  • Trail Monitoring Training and 'Trail Blitz' weekend coming up on May 31st and June 1st.
  • Other events and outings to be announced including a membership mixer at Hot Tomato in Fruita.
