Cottonwood Education Days
Over the past decade Cottonwood Education Days has been a staple of the CCA/BLM education partnership within Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. 6th grade students from all across Delta County (and Olathe) participate in river-focused, standards based interactive learning stations, run by volunteer experts. These stations include fish identification with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, macroinvertebrate collection and identification, constructing a web of life, learning about how people have utilized the river for hundreds of years, and tying flies with anglers. Hundreds of students every year get to experience GGNCA as their outdoor classroom for a week and we are happy to have this great partnership.
