National Public Lands Day in Gunnison Gorge NCA

Every year, volunteers come together around National Public Lands Day to help restore and improve public lands in their backyard. Join CCA and the Bureau of Land Management on October 2nd to help restore critical habitat for the threatened Gunnison sage-grouse in Gunnison Gorge NCA and give back to your public land!

When: Saturday, October 2nd from 9 AM - 3 PM

Where: Gunnison Gorge NCA; we will meet at the intersection of Black Canyon Rd and C77 Rd outside of Crawford (exact coordinates will be provided upon registration).

What you’ll be doing: Volunteers will be using loppers and hand saws to cut down juniper and pinion saplings that would otherwise become perches for predators, scaring away the sage-grouse. The felled trees help retain soil moisture and provide habitat for small animals, improving the landscape for Gunnison sage-grouse habitat.

Please bring: Food, water, work gloves, eye protection, long pants, and closed-toed shoes

We’ll provide: Tools, orange vests, and National Public Lands Day t-shirts

RSVP required.
