What: Explore the rare and endemic plant species that occur within the NCA's! We’ll be taking a look at the unique environments these plants exploit and their unique survival strategies that make them inherently rare. Ken will discuss the efforts employed by the BLM and other entities involved in conservation of rare plants. We’ll finish off on a discussion of what BLM does to inform US Fish and Wildlife Service decisions regarding plants species that are currently protected or under consideration for protection under the Endangered Species Act.

About the speaker

Ken is an Ecologist with Bureau of Land Management in Montrose, Colorado. He has 21 years of experience working for the BLM in fire ecology, botany, rangeland ecology, and wildlife biology. Projects he is most frequently involved in are threatened and endangered species recovery, post fire stabilization and restoration, rangeland health evaluations, rangeland restoration, assessment inventory, and monitoring implementation and analysis.
