Join CCA and the Bureau of Land Management on September 12th to help restore critical habitat for the threatened Gunnison sage-grouse in Gunnison Gorge NCA and give back to your public land!
When: Friday, September 12th from 9 AM - 2 PM
Where: Gunnison Gorge NCA; near Crawford (exact coordinates will be provided upon registration).
What you’ll be doing: Volunteers will be using loppers and hand saws to cut down juniper and pinion saplings that would otherwise become perches for predators, scaring away the sage-grouse. The felled trees help retain soil moisture and provide habitat for small animals, improving the landscape for Gunnison sage-grouse habitat.
Please bring: Food, water, work gloves, eye protection, long pants, and closed-toed shoes
We’ll provide: Tools, orange vests, and National Public Lands Day t-shirts
We are excited to be joined this year by members of the Black Canyon Audubon Society, who will give a brief talk on Sage Grouse Habitat to kick off the event!
RSVP required.
