CCA is excited to continue the Ripple Effect: A River Stewardship Adventure, a multi-day trip focused on conservation! Over the course of 3 days and 2 nights, you will float along the 25+ scenic miles of Ruby Horsethief Canyon, part of McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, while participating in invasive Bullfrog surveys at Mee Canyon and assist our education team in native plant restoration projects at Catalpa Camp.
What you need to know:
When: Tuesday, June 2nd-Thursday, Jun 4th, 2026 (3 days; 2 nights)
Where: Ruby-Horsethief; we will be launching from the Loma boat ramp (no CPW permit is required) and taking out at the Westwater Ranger Station
What: This 3-day river stewardship trip is a fully guided experience, with a cost of $475/non-member or $425/member (due at time of registration) to help offset project supplies, food cost, and guide pay. You are always welcome to donate more towards this project to assist CCA fundraising efforts for our Stewardship Programs like this in the future.
Trip Itinerary:
Day 1:
Launch from Loma 10:00am
Stop at Cottonwood 2 for lunch
Continue to Mee Canyon for camp, dinner, educational activities
Hike up canyon to learn about bullfrogs and survey
Enjoy the dark skies at camp!
Day 2:
Launch 10:00am
Educational stop at Black Rocks
Lunch
Continue to Catalpa Camp for camp, dinner, educational activities
Introduction to gall wasps
Monitor for gall wasps & (possibly, depending on blooms) bumblebees
Day 3:
Breakfast
Gall Wasp monitoring
Launch from Catalpa 12:00pm
Arrive at Westwater 2:00pm
3:00pm departure

Transportation & boat space (participants are welcome to row their own boat if that is your preference, but we prefer couples or groups only to select that option as boat parking will be very limited on night 2)
