The Nature Connection Receives GOCO Funds

We are happy to announce that our partners at The Nature Connection in Delta County have been awarded an Inspire Grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO)!

This amazing fund, set up to distribute lottery money to help get youth outside, has awarded The Nature Connection (TNC) over $1,750,000.00 to ensure that all K-12 students across Delta County have the ability to get outdoors and connect with their natural world.

CCA is exceptionally pleased to be a part of this coalition and to be one of the primary program providers for this grant. CCA will be working with TNC to provide great programs in Dominguez-Escalante and Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Areas.

Students from all of Delta County (and Olathe) will be participating in 3rd grade Nature Knowledge Days, 6th grade Cottonwood Days, and the 7th grade Escalante Field Experience, a major expansion of our previous work. Additionally, students from TNC's Youth Outdoor Network will have increased opportunities to raft through the NCAs with CCA under this grant as we work with our partners to expand day trips and create an entirely new rafting curriculum. The future of outdoor environmental education in Delta County is looking bright thanks to The Nature Connection, GOCO and CCA!

About GOCO:

Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) invests a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds to help preserve and enhance the state’s parks, trails, wildlife, rivers, and open spaces. GOCO’s independent board awards competitive grants to local governments and land trusts, and makes investments through Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Created when voters approved a Constitutional Amendment in 1992, GOCO has since funded more than 4,700 projects in urban and rural areas in all 64 counties without any tax dollar support.
