Supporting Local Businesses through COVID-19

Local businesses are the backbone of our community and represent one of the most important segments for CCA to raise funds for our programs. As we hunker down in response to the coronavirus outbreak, it is more important than ever to support local businesses just as they support CCA. Through partnerships and collaborations, creativity and community, we will get through these uncertain and challenging times together.

Information in this article is accurate as of April 9, 2020. It is your responsibility to understand and follow current guidelines.

Here are a few ways you can support local businesses:

  1. Order takeout or delivery

Even though many locations have closed their communal areas, businesses like the Hot Tomato and Carlson Vineyards are still providing food and drink! The Hot Tomato is open Tuesday- Saturday for pick up and they are asking customers to call orders in ahead of time and pre-pay over the phone, their line is 970.858.1117. If you’re unable to pick up food, you can also order some awesome new merchandise and have it mailed to you! Be sure to check out their social media for frequent updates!

Carlson Vineyards has shifted to a delivery model! Who doesn’t want delicious, local wine delivered straight to their door?! Visit their website to place your order and you may even get lucky enough to win a jackpot prize! Don’t forget, $3 from every bottle of Terra sold supports CCA! Carlson Vineyards has also kept up an exciting and engaging social media presence, so be sure to follow along throughout your time at home.

  2. Purchase gift cards

When you can't visit a local business now, but you know you'll want to later, everyone wins when you buy a gift card. Gift cards are one of the best ways to generate cash flow for local businesses and you’ll have something to look forward to when they open up again! Check online or call to see the best way to purchase gift cards, many times they can be digitally delivered to you!

  3. Shop local businesses online

Many businesses have an online presence and are encouraging customers to place orders through the web. Local shops like Enstrom Candies and Chow Down Pet Supplies are taking orders online! Chow Down Pet Supplies “encourages you to please take advantage of online ordering for Delivery or Curbside Pick Up. Please ensure you are ordering from the correct location.”

  4. Don’t assume things are closed

Call your favorite local spots or check their websites/social media to see if they’re still open. Many places are offering payment by phone or online, and bring the goods out to your car for you.

  5. Be patient

In many cases, businesses are working at dramatically reduced capacities. There's a good chance that you'll experience longer waits or encounter out-of-stock items. If businesses are unable to meet your needs in a timely manner, extend a little grace and patience, remembering that they're working hard to stay open and serve our community.

If you’re interested in supporting businesses but aren’t sure if the ways listed above apply, reach out directly to see if there’s any other ways you can help. We are so appreciative of all the support from each one of our sponsors and hope that you’ll support them just as they support us.
