Love your Public Lands!

Throughout 2021, we’re excited to celebrate our 10th birthday with YOU! Each month we’ll have a new theme and birthday wish to share. This month, we’re asking you to love your public lands and Leave No Trace. With love in the air this month, we're hoping the National Conservation Areas make it on your Valentine's list. Learn more on how to help spread the love and have the chance to win a prize!

Like all public lands, the National Conservation Areas are special, unique, and fragile places. Additionally, being in a desert environment makes many aspects of the landscape more delicate and vulnerable; plants don’t grow back easily, water is scarce, and traces are hard to erase. When recreating, it is every person’s responsibility to respect their surroundings and help steward the landscapes we are so lucky to have in our backyard.

How can you do this? Start by following the 7 Leave No Trace (LNT) principles!

  1. Plan ahead and prepare

  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces

  3. Dispose of waste properly

  4. Leave what you find

  5. Minimize campfire impact

  6. Respect wildlife

  7. Be kind and considerate to other visitors

Learn more about all 7 LNT principles here!
